The Path to Pregnancy is a Couple’s Journey

Having children is a human drive – a human need, yet >100 Million people worldwide face the heartbreak of infertility and are unable to conceive a child.

What is an At Home Male Fertility Test And Why Do I Need One?

Male fertility is complicated. Basically, fertility is a comprehensive description of a man’s ability to conceive a child. Having an adequate amount of sperm, sperm being produced properly, and the ability of sperm to move properly to reach the egg are a few of the factors that affect fertility. A man is considered to be infertile when these factors fall below optimal levels. There may be no other obvious signs and symptoms.

Do I Really Need to Test My Sperm Count?

Sperm count is an important factor in a man’s fertility status as well as his general health. This test is intended for men to conveniently and routinely test this important health parameter. Recent studies from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine show evidence that men’s sperm counts are in deep, global decline. In truth, the average sperm count is dropping 1.4% per year, with no indicators of stabilizing. This means the majority of men are facing a suboptimal sperm count. This means it may take many men much longer to conceive than their forefathers. With this screening test, you will see where you stand and learn how best to take control of your fertility.

Benefits of At-Home Male Fertility Testing

  • Private – “Delivering” a sperm sample at the doctor’s office is nerve-wracking and awkward. Get the info you need in the comfort of your home.
  • Personalized Health – Sperm quality is an indicator of general health. Monitoring your SCORE over time can provide you with important feedback about your health and/or the impact of lifestyle changes.
  • Test Your Sperm Mobility – This amazing product can instantly record and display moving, living viable sperm, which is considered more vital and important than a total sperm check using strips. If they can’t make the swim, they can’t meet the Egg!
  • Sperm Video – As part of the Home Sperm Test, you will receive a recorded video of your sample. The video offers a clear visual reference to complement your MSC and Score results. Videos are available for sharing with an expert, family, or friends if desired or kept 100% private inside the App for personal viewing.

FAQs about YO Sperm Male Fertility Testing System

What is the YO Sperm Male Fertility Testing System?

YO is an FDA approved home sperm test that allows you to check your sperm quality in the privacy of your home. Including sperm count & motility it is the gold standard for male fertility screening.

Is the YO Sperm Testing System Accurate?

In a word: “yes!” The sperm count and semen volume tests have been shown to be as accurate as standard laboratory tests. This home test provides results with greater than 97% accuracy in clinical trials. It’s fast, reliable, and the most proven home fertility semen analysis on the market today. These results are based on the World Health Organizations 5th Edition standards.

How many times do I need to test?

Each kit comes with two (2) tests. Additional refill tests are also available for repeated usage so that you can see changes over time. Your sperm count can change daily, weekly, and monthly due to changes in your health, lifestyle, and the world around you. To get the most accurate benchmark results, we recommend testing twice to establish a baseline for measuring progress. After that, you should test at least monthly outside of your partner’s fertile window (the six-day interval when pregnancy can occur, ending on her ovulation day).

In many cases, men start to see results starting after one month. That said, be aware that it takes sperm a while to fully develop. It may take two months or longer to see meaningful concentration changes after implementing health and lifestyle changes.

Has the YO Sperm Test been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)?

Yes, FDA-cleared and extensively tested, the Home Sperm Test by YO Sperm was created by industry leaders with over 20 years of experience in automated semen analysis.

How long does this test take at home?

This at-home sperm test is private, fast and easy. The app guides you through the testing process with simple instructions. The test takes less than 30 minutes and results include a live video of your moving sperm. Delivering a sperm sample at the doctor’s office is nerve wracking and awkward, to say the least. The Home Sperm kit includes 2 in home test kits.

Will I need to do anything to prepare for the test?

You will first need to refrain from ejaculating for at least two (2) days and no longer than 11 days prior to collection. To better grasp the factors that may affect fertility, it is recommended that you write down symptoms you’re experiencing (if any), and any major stressors or life changes you are currently undergoing. Ask you family if there is a history of reproductive problems. Lastly, list all medications, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, recreational drugs, etc. that you have been using.

What do the results mean?

The results indicate the amount of sperm that is present as:

  • Optimal; Sperm concentration above 55M/mL
  • Moderate; Sperm concentration between 55M/mL and 15M/mL
  • Low; Sperm concentration below 15M/mL

Studies show that statistically, partners of men with higher sperm concentrations conceive faster. When your sperm concentration is high enough (optimal), you’re likely to have enough quality sperm to overcome any abnormalities in other sperm parameters. This can include poor motility or morphology, referring to the size and shape of sperm. These factors may put you at higher risk for infertility. Men with a low sperm concentration are at a high risk for infertility. In this case, it is recommended that you see a healthcare provider who may further perform diagnostic tests that assess other parameters affecting your fertility.

Semen Analysis Overview

In cases of infertility, the man is a contributing factor in 50% of cases. A Semen Analysis is conducted to test a man’s sperm count (Concentration), moving sperm (Motility), normally shaped sperm (Morphology), and other parameters. One of the most important factors in achieving a pregnancy is the number of Motile Sperm in the sample. If the sperm cannot swim to the egg, natural pregnancy is not possible. The Home Sperm Test analyzes your Motile Sperm Concentration (how many are moving) and Sperm Quality and compares your results to laboratory standards and to other men who have fathered children. You will also receive a video recording of your sample as part of the test. Here is some more detail on each result and the reference ranges for Normal vs. Abnormal.

Motile Sperm Concentration

Sperm cells need to move forward to reach the egg during normal conception. The test first reports if your Motile Sperm Concentration (MSC) is above or below a “Normal Range” of 6 Million Motile Sperm per Milliliter. The “Normal Range” of 6 Million Motile Sperm is calculated by multiplying the World Health Organization (WHO) reference value for Sperm Concentration (15 million) times the normal reference range for Sperm Motility (40%). 15 million x 40% = 6 million. Although only one sperm cell is needed to fertilize an egg, 6 million Motile Sperm per Milliliter is the cut-off or “threshold,” which determines the diagnosis of Low vs. Moderate/Normal MSC.
