Food Sensitivity Test

What is a Food Sensitivity Test?

Both men and women suffer from food sensitivity, which is a diffuse, and sometimes delayed reaction to certain foods in your current diet. The Food Sensitivity Test measures for IgG antibodies in your blood related to 96 common foods. Elevated antibodies may indicate that you could be sensitive to that food. This test does not detect allergic reactions to foods, lactose intolerance or celiac disease.
Related symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Bloating
  • Gastrointestinal stress
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Stomach pain

What Do I Need to Do to Prepare for the Test?

It is always important to avoid known food allergies and foods that you know make you feel poorly. Consuming a broad diet prior to conducting a food sensitivity test, while safely avoiding known potentially life threatening foods will provide the broadest reactivity results. If you suspect that you may have a severe allergic reaction to any suspect food, DO NOT eat it and contact your healthcare practitioner.

Just a simple finger stick, to collect a few drops of whole blood, is all that is required.

What Do the Results Mean?

Food sensitivity testing helps you discover which foods in your diet may be a source of symptoms. This test measures your immune system’s reactivity to foods, which can help guide a temporary elimination diet.

The classification of 0 to IV denotes the level of antibody reactivity detected for each food. Use of immunosuppressant medications may reduce your classification by one level or more. Never discontinue any prescription medications without consulting your doctor first. If you are experiencing symptoms related to a specific food at any level, that is your threshold.

General recommendations include:

  • Very Low (0) – eat freely
  • Low (I) – eat every 4th day

For the following classifications, do not eat for 3-6 months:

  • Moderate (II)
  • High (III)
  • Very High (IV)

In 3-6 months, re-introduce one food at a time and monitor to determine if symptoms return. If symptoms return, cease eating that food and re-introduce again in 3-6 months. If symptoms continue, remove that food from your diet.

This test alone cannot confirm a food sensitivity or intolerance. Experts recommend that you follow up with a licensed healthcare professional or allergist to review your results along with your medical history, symptoms, diet and other test results prior to making nutrition changes.

Easy enough and results seem to line up with food issues I have. My Everlywell test was a dud. Filling the card with the blood is pretty easy unlike the 9 Drops test (hint, you need more than 9 drops, you need to fill a vial with at least 50 drops)
Wish they explained what a high sensitivity for Candida means, it seems like an outlier against the easy to understand food intolerances. Had to go searching for an explanation at another testing company website.

This test was super easy to use and the results came back within 2 days of the lab receiving it. I decided to order this test because of known issues with certain foods and I was curious if there was anything else I should avoid. So, when my results showed that I have a high sensitivity to dairy products I was not at surprised – It was merely confirmation. However, I also have trouble with legumes, but the results showed very low sensitivity to them. I’m a bit perplexed by this. All in all, I’d recommend this test (and I have already to a friend) though I’m unsure of how conclusive it is. I may follow up with my physician on this matter. A great starting point though!

100% accurate. I went into this fully expecting there to be issues with dairy, and there were. There were a few others that caught me off guard but now MAKE SO MUCH SENSE!!! I am in process of two additional tests with this company as well. My only complaint is that I have to ask for tracking numbers. They should be automatically provided when the test(s) ship out.

Found out I’m allergic to something I didn’t even know was a thing and I feel so much better after eliminating it from my diet. I would highly recommend for anyone who’s struggling with weird general symptoms that don’t make sense. A small price to pay for getting my life back!

I think this test is very easy to do and the test results are easy to read and understand. I also would like to compliment the customer support team for all the help they gave me. My first test kit got lost by USPS I was kindly sent a brand new test kit for free. They were very patient with all my concerns and questions no matter how dumb they might have been. As far as pain goes, I did get a bit of bruising on my finger pad from the lance which lasted for several days, but that was a minor inconvenience all things considered. If you are concerned about the foods you are eating, I highly recommend this kit as a starting point, and this company for their stellar communications.

I don’t think this test was accurate. I feel gross every time after I eat and this test said I don’t have allergies to anything. Seems like a total waste of money for me.

    Jenn Levario August 25, 2022

I ordered the food sensitivity test to see if tomatoes or other foods were causing the horrible bloating I’ve been experiencing. Everything pretty much was low to very low, except for all dairy, eggs, almonds, and lima beans. I was not thrilled about the eggs scoring High. I eat a hard boiled egg daily as my lunch, a wee brie wedge with vegggies, and a few tablespoons of half and half with ny coffee. So I guess the small items I do eat after intermittent fasting are causing the bloating. I swore it was tomatoes!! The test was easy to do. I don’t agree that it was painless. I don’t mind needles at all, but this one hurt. But it did the trick and the blood was flowing to get it done quickly. The results came pretty quickly after the lab received it. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and have some thinking to do to see if I can give up my daily egg and truely see if it makes a difference or not.

I have been suffering from stomach and gastrointestinal upset for a number of years, but I have never been able to understand why! Even though I am a Type II Diabetic and take Metformin for this, my doctors have been very hesitant to assign blame on the drug for my problem. They even put me on the Low FODMAP diet, which is a regimen where you take a whole host of foods out of your diet and then add them back in one at a time until you figure out which one is making you sick. Well, it didn’t work for me, and I am still sick. So, I sent for the myLAB Box Food Sensitivity Test, which tests your sensitivity test to 96 different foods (dairy, meats & fish, fruits, vegetables, grains & nuts, herbs, spices, yeast – you name it!) And, guess what: I was only moderately sensitive to four different items on the list (almonds, bananas, baker’s/brewer’s yeast and Candida albicans). So, armed with this test now, I can go back to my doctor and show that it is NOT my diet that is making me ill. Thank you, myLAB Box!!!
